The Winners of the "Programming with Financial Data" Competition Were Announced

According to the public relations and website of Khatam University, the first round of "programming with financial data" competitions, focusing on options contracts (especially for the elites and the top activists of the university, capital market, and industry) was held by the scientific and executive management of Khatam University’s Industrial Engineering Department on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 27 and 28.

The goals for holding this competition include specialized training, acquisition and improvement of skills and experience, programming challenges with the purpose of transactions in the capital market, communication with professionals active in the market, training and familiarization with options transactions and related data structures, and supporting projects and top business ideas from the participants.

During this event, professionals active in the capital market who had experience in algorithmic trading accompanied the participants in the competition so that they could expand their communication network. In fact, the participants in this event, while acquiring the necessary skills, did their best to win the exquisite competition prizes.

​ Dr. Majid Ghasemi; the President of Khatam University, in the closing ceremony and awarding of the prizes to the selected teams, emphasized the importance of holding such events in synergizing new ideas in programming with financial data, and while appreciating those involved in the organization of this competition, he said: “In our opinion, all The participants who bravely and courageously continued their efforts until the end of the competition are the winners, and their efforts will definitely be given special attention.”

Referring to the rapid changes that have occurred with the introduction of artificial intelligence in various fields, especially financial markets in the world, he said: “Such competitions should change the view of universities in the field of using scientific elites.”

The president of Khatam University expressed his hope that Khatam University can provide a space for the business of the finalists of the first round of the "Programming with Financial Data" competition; so that they can earn profit from their activities.

Dr. Ghasemi also promised that Khatam University's Metaverse Laboratory will be opened in the early days of next year and will become a center for conducting up-to-date scientific research by the country's academic and research elites.

At the end of his speech, while emphasizing that the future of Iran depends on its elite youth and they can definitely reach the highest peaks of science and knowledge in the world, he also promised financial support to all the teams that reached the final stage of the first round of “programming with financial data" and emphasized: “The mechanism of this support has also been determined and will be implemented soon.”

In this ceremony, Dr. Masoud Rabbani, the faculty member and director of the Industrial Engineering department of Khatam University, while appreciating those involved in organizing this competition, praised the activities of the president of Khatam University, who, according to him, always proposes new ideas to attracting and nurturing elite forces and fulfilling social responsibility.

He described the level of holding the first "programming with financial data" competition as very high and pointed out that Khatam University has been among the first 4 universities in the country for students to choose in the field of "financial systems" in recent years. He also reminded: “Since 2022 onwards, this trend has become the first choice among the industrial engineering fields of this university, and along with the ‘systems modeling and data analysis’ trend, it is one of the most popular trends in the field of industrial engineering, which, of course, completely arose from the developments in this field.”

Besides, Dr. Alireza Shamekhi Amiri; a faculty member of the Industrial Engineering Department of Khatam University, who was responsible for holding the first "programming with financial data" competition, in a speech referred to the tremendous changes that have taken place in the financial interests of the young generation in recent years and said: “According to the report of CFA Institute, about 56% of generation Z invest in crypto. In addition, unlike the older generation, whose investments are mainly aimed at retirement, the first priority of the young generation in investing is to cover travel expenses, their second priority is to cover unexpected expenses, and their third priority is the issue of retirement.”

He added: “40 percent of those who enter university in America have completed financial courses before the age of 18. At the same time, the new generation is strongly involved with traditional financial structures and believes in a kind of anarchism in this field, and it must be acknowledged that today, anarchism no longer has a negative meaning.”

This faculty member of Khatam University added: “We in the Industrial Engineering Department, by holding the "Programming with Financial Data" competition, were actually seeking to identify and attract the elites of this field, and I can boldly say that this level of precision in the design of questions as well as the performance that we witnessed in this course and the participants are rarely found in similar competitions.”

According to Dr. Shamekhi, 65 teams consisting of about 100 people had registered to participate in the first round of the "Programming with financial data" competition, of which 40 teams participated in the competition and among them, 18 teams made it to the finals and 3 teams won the first to third titles.

At the end of the ceremony, awards were given to the top teams. Earlier, according to the official announcement, it was decided that the first selected team would receive a cash prize of 60 million tomans, the second selected team would receive a cash prize of 40 million tomans, and the third team would receive a cash prize of 30 million tomans. First, with the assistance of Dr. Ghasemi; the president of Khatam University, these awards were matched and each of the top three teams was awarded a cash prize of 60 million Tomans, and at the same time, it was emphasized that the first selected team will be given more special support.”

In addition, with the help of Khatam University, it was decided to give a cash prize of 20 million tomans to the other 15 finalist teams of this competition.

According to the announcement, the first to third selected teams of the first "programming with financial data" competition were introduced as follows:

The second team: led by Ghazaleh Kazemi

The third team: led by Amir Hossein Mesgarha

In addition, Ali Fazaeli was honored as the "creative team" of this tournament, with a cash prize of 5 million tomans.
